Move money between accounts
A transfer moves money between two cash or bank accounts of the company. A transfer does not change the profit. For example:
- You deposit cash in the bank.
- You take cash from the bank.
- An agent gives the cash of the day to the main register.
Make a transfer
You must have the Create transfers permission.
- On the Transfers page, select New transfer.
- Type the Date.
- Select the From account (the account that gives the money).
- Select the To account (the account that receives the money).
- Type the Amount.
- Select the Instrument when necessary, for example a cheque.
- Select Save draft. Or, select Post to save and post.
The transfer gets its number (for example TR-2627-000001) when you post it.
Caution: The two accounts must be different.
Correct a posted transfer
To change a posted transfer in its own month, use Correct. Refer to Correct a posted document.
The cash of an agent
At the end of the day, the agent gives the cash to the cashier or the accountant. Record a transfer from the register of the agent to the main register. Refer to Cash registers.
Find a transfer
The page has two tabs: Drafts and Posted. Use the search box to find a document by the number, the name or the description. The search finds a number that starts with the text. It also finds a name or a description that contains the text. To search a name or a description, type at least 2 letters or digits. When the list has more than 1000 transfers, the page shows "of more than 1000".
